String Version
What you will need:
- 1 sheet of paper (we recommend 32 lb copy paper or heavier)
- Printer
- Scissors
- String
Step 1: Print the mask
For Adults
For Children (age 7 – 12)
Step 2: Cut the mask
Cut out the mask along the dotted lines. Cut out the holes as indicated by the dotted lines.
Step 3: Make a strap
Measure a length of string by looping string once around your head, over your nose. Add about 5 inches to the total length.
Cut the string.
Step 4 Build the BTN
Thread the string into the holes of the BTN according to the instructions on the mask.
Rest the mask over your nose and tie the string at the back of your head, below your ears.
Elastic Version
What you will need:
- 1 sheet of paper (we recommend 32 lb copy paper or heavier)
- Printer
- Scissors
- String
- Hair elastic
- Bead (optional)
Step 1: Print the mask

Step 2: Cut the mask
Cut out the mask along the dotted lines. Cut out the holes as indicated by the dotted lines.
Step 3: Make a strap
Measure a length of a string by looping string around your head, over your nose, twice.
Cut the string.
Thread the string through the hair elastic. If you have a bead, thread the string through the bead.
Tie the two ends together.
Thread loop of string, starting from the end with the hair elastic, into the holes of the BTN according to the instructions on the mask.
Fold the nose flap.
Rest the mask over your nose. Pull the hair elastic and the knotted end of the string to the back of your head, below your ears. Insert the knot (and the bead, if using) through the hair elastic.
If the strap is loose, tie the knot further from the end of the string.
If the knot is too small, tie it a few more times.
